If you live in the Seneca area and have an item you would like for someone to steal, rent a unit at the Stanley Storage Facility in Seneca on Richland Rd. and you won't have to wait long for it to disappear. I rented a unit in August because the facility looked new, it was surrounded by a sturdy looking fence, had a gate that you had to use your personal code to get into, had surveillance cameras, and was reasonably priced. When I returned a few weeks later and went by to check on it, the gate was standing wide open. I called the rental office and reported it. I was told they were doing work in the daytime there and that is why the gate was open. I was assured it would be closed at night. My son, who lives in Walhalla, came by a week or two later and it was still open and no workers were there. A couple of months later my son called and said the gate had been torn down when he went by. They said they would have it fixed promptly. I went by to get my 4 wheeler a few weeks later and the gate was still down. My four wheeler had been stolen. I called the Oconee County Sheriff's office and they came and investigated. I called Stanley Storage and they were closed so I left a message explaining what had happened and asked them to call me the next morning. When I had not heard anything the next day, I called and spoke with someone who worked there. They said management was not available. I told them about the theft, the broken gate and told them I was moving my trailer out and ending our contract. I told them I would still like to talk to management and to please have them call me. It has been a little over a week and I've still not heard a word. When I moved my trailer out, I met another man who said someone had broke into his motor home and stolen tools and another man said he was renting a unit that had been broken into and had stolen some of his stored property. The sheriff's office investigated the three incidences in a single afternoon. I know that renting a storage unit doesn't guarantee you that you will not suffer loss from theft, but when you are paying to have your property secured, you should minimally expect that security measures are being taken as stated and advertised. If I were you, I wouldn't do business with Stanley Storage of Seneca.
So far my experience here has been a nightmare and I am leasing 2 units, one for 42 ft 5th wheel and a second for a 24 ft pontoon. Here are my experiences thus far: 1 - First time dropping off camper there was a pile of gravel in the driving lane that impaired our ability to back our fifth wheel into our slot and also 2x4 concrete forms for pouring a drainage ditch we had to remove to get backed in. 2 - One day later we brought our boat in. We had signed a lease for unit G-10 which was supposed to be a 35 ft covered parking slot. We couldn’t find it. Upon calling customer service we learned it wasn’t that at all but rather a storage locker. Good thing is the call center folks try to be very helpful. They finally got us assigned to another slot that we could park our boat after offering us 5 other options that we couldn’t get into because of construction equipment and or materials blocking them. 3 - Two days later we went to pick up the boat for Sunday on the lake and couldn’t get into the gate. Called customer service and was told the gate was indeed broken. We were directed to a padlocked walk in gate and given the combination and told how to override the drive in gate once we got in. That lock also did not work. Finally my husband was able to reach thru to hit the override button. Good thing he’s very tall. 4 - A week later we picked the camper up for a trip on July 3 and the gate was still not working but was open. We returned the camper today, July 13, gate is still not working but open. We got in to find someone was partially blocking our slot. The slots are meant to be at an angle under the roof but with all the construction it’s really hard to tell that. Someone in another fifth wheel had pulled in straight to the space beside ours thus partially taking up 2 spaces. Customer service was able to reassign us yet again to another slot we could fit. Also worth noting, there is a petroleum tanker truck that is parked there. It is never in any of the storage slots but is parked randomly around the driving lane always blocking several of the slots. I’m giving one star because the customer service call center is very good. Otherwise, this has thus far been a nightmare. This place should have never been open for leasing until the construction was complete. We are very limited with covered storage in this area so I’m trying to stick it out until everything is complete in hopes they’ll get their act together..
Not much to tell, Awesome place , everyone so helpful, x nice, everything went well , really like it..... I have two units with Stanley Storage, I'd recommend Stanley Storage to any one looking for Storage units, they will help you , make it so easy. Thanks Guys.....
I have three storage units thee and the prices are fair and the units are good. One improvement would be more lights. Its really dark at night there.
The front gate didn't work over the 4 months i rented here -- it would be wide open 24/7. The 2 times it was shut, it electrically shocked me when I entered my entry code. I also got stuck INSIDE once and luckily i was able to use the outside code buttons to get out. One time in July, I went to access my unit and the entry was blocked by a tractor. I called and of course, no one answered. During move in, I was warned of theft from one of the drivers who parks his fuel truck here my first day. He said to park in front of cameras. The modular storage units were seemingly randomly plopped around an unlevel gravel field -- Off center/crooked, if someone wanted to -- in 5 minutes with they could easily scoot between the unit and open the side walls from the outside with a 3/4" wrench and a couple bolts. every single one. so don't store anything important. you can find the metal hardware from whoever built them & trash bags littered all over the ground. This was not cleaned up for the last 4 months. On move out, I couldn't even reach someone for instruction/confirmation during their business hours. I cancelled my membership with their "AI Agent" and am still getting emails -- now about a price increase! haha... not like i'll pay it,i took photos of my cleaned space in case they complain or try to charge me. i wouldn't recommend anyone to rent here. What a joke. When I moved out -- I noticed a person living there, saw them bringing their hamper of dirty clothes in pajama bottoms around 8am last week. pretty easy -- most of the units are vacant and unmarked and no cameras. Half the price of anywhere else but you get what you pay for. i might go camp there for fun and see if i get caught :~) shout out stanley storage on richland road -- driving what little business they have into the ground
