FANTASTIC, SECURE SPACE, COVERED AREA TO UNLOAD.
When I received a call back and made arrangements to see the temperature-controlled space, I didn't hesitate to rent the 5'x10' unit to store my artwork and large lino blocks. Clean, secure, easy to unload, and a convenient location, I would highly recommend SmartStop on SE Powell to my friends and family!

Kai RussellMy main critique is how inconvenient the hours are for anyone who works a Monday through Friday 9-5. During the week, I had to rush over after getting off work, and then could only get a little moving done before storage closed. It seems like weekend hours should be longer than mid-week hours, not shorter. Matt and Mike are super friendly and helpful! They are a very nice team. Really cool facility, aesthetically speaking--I'm a fan of liminal spaces, and SmartStop nails the Backrooms vibe! I wish there were a way to keep an area half-lit when walking into it. The motion-sensor lights make sense from a practical standpoint but make the environment less creepy and fun. I don't have much frame of reference as this is the first time I've personally put things in storage, so I don't know what is industry standard and what is unique to SmartStop. Since it's called "self" storage, I was surprised that storage is only accessible when the office is open. I'm guessing it's from a security standpoint, despite everything being locked aside from what you have access to via code and key.
L HinesI think the bad reviews were from before they got new a new security system (and a new owner?). The staff are all super nice, and it’s easy to get to your storage unit. They do have limited hours but I figure that’s for security too. Can’t really complain.
greg huddMike & Matt have been more than helpful with all my needs here. Pro tip: be nice and you'll likely get treated the same :) my building is always clean vs times/owners past. Downside: limited access on weekends, I also had more access in the past and would "love" to have it returned 🙏 pretty please?
Cindy CostaI purchased a 10x 25 locker at auction and it was overwhelming to say the least. There was no way I could get it all out in the allotted time. The man and woman that worked there were so nice and understanding and did everything they could to help me by extending the time I had to remove the stuff. They really were the nicest people, gave us cold bottles of water and I can’t recommend this place enough. The facility was temperature controlled, gated, very very clean. Highly recommend five stars isn’t enough. Thank you guys
