This is a super negative review, but if I change it to one star, Dwayne loses out. Dwayne deserves a raise every single month, he deserves better than Public Storage. He is the sole reason I’m leaving this review. He gets 100 stars, public storage gets 0. Dwayne (site manager) is OUTSTANDING and he’s literally the *only* reason I stayed so long at the hampstead location. Dwayne has been kind enough to try to help me with the 30-50% rate hikes every 6 months (Blue Bird charges half as much for the same thing..and a free moving truck *with* movers, so no…rates are not competitive) but he can’t force corporate to stop the “rate adjustments”. I had two units for two years, and one of those I had for 3 years before I finally moved out. I had a literal birds nest in my unit for MONTHS on top of the ceiling fencing. It destroyed furniture, an irreplaceable China cabinet, a couch, and countless other items. Insurance won’t cover it because “a bird isn’t a rodent”. I told the staff immediately upon discovering the nest, before anything was ruined. It was never removed, no attempt at mitigation at all. Then I told them again 2 months later. Then again 6 weeks after that. It was never taken care of. I moved out and was told someone would contact me about how to handle my destroyed items but nobody ever did. Blue bird or local storage facilities are MUCH cleaner and less expensive. You might get a deal as a new customer but that price will double in less than two years.

I hate to leave a negative review, but I’ve become pretty disappointed with Public Storage. The main issue is their price and price increases. If you are looking at long term storage solutions, look elsewhere. I’ve been a long time customer and the price for my storage space has creeped to the the point where it is over $450 per month. I spoke to the new site manager about the price increase and she told me there was nothing they could do to help. She also told me per the contract, the company can raise prices every 3 to 10 months! This is ridiculous! My experience is the rate increases about every six months and price creep is rapid. I asked to if I could speak with a regional manager and she told me they would tell me the same thing and they will not negotiate on price. So, I went down the road and found another similarly sized storage unit at a different company (Bluebird Storage) that is literally half the price. Plus, they come with a moving van to help move my stuff out. They also guarantee no rate hikes for one year. When I first started using Public Storage, almost every unit was rented in the climate controlled building. Now, There are a ton of available units. This company needs to wake up and realize their pricing is too high. There are a lot of other storage options in this area now. Combine their rigid policies with poor and unfriendly customer service, and renters will leave and are leaving. Don’t be fooled by the low storage rental prices you see online. It’s scammy. Again, if you are looking at long term storage solutions, look elsewhere. This is not the place for you, Dwayne was the best!

I didn't understand that some units are not elevator friendly. The young lady in office was nice to help me fix the mix up. I have bad knees that do NOT like stairs.

Truly a scam. They’ve increased their prices a huge amount. I’ve had my storage unit for just about a year, and rent (excluding the special price you get in the first month or two) has gone up over $30 a month since then!!! Absolutely predatory company.

One of the cleanest storage facilities i have seen. Staff was kind, would definitely recommend and trust to keep my stuff safe.
