I’m a Mesquite resident and single mother writing to share a situation I believe is important for the community to know about. This year, my daughter and I have experienced significant loss and instability. My mother passed away in 2020, and I lost my father in February of this year. As an only child, I inherited all of my parents’ belongings. Due to circumstances beyond my control, my daughter and I were forced to move three times this year, and I placed everything I owned into a storage unit. I fell three months behind on storage payments. With fees, the balance totaled $654. During that time, I stayed in contact with management, made it clear the unit was not abandoned, and asked about a payment plan. I was given a deadline of December 15. I immediately asked if they could wait until Thursday, when I would be paid, so I could pay in full. I did not receive a response. When I went in to pay the balance, I was told the unit had already been auctioned. I lost everything in that unit, including family photos, letters, personal belongings, and most importantly, the cremated remains of both of my parents. I understand businesses have policies, but I believe this situation was handled without compassion or reasonable accommodation, especially given that I was actively communicating and attempting to resolve the balance. I am speaking out in the hope that no other family experiences this. Update: I have tried to call management since and still have gotten no response.

The guy that works the front desk here is awesome. We had to rent a trailer here last minute from UHaul and he helped us with everything, including hooking the trailer up. A real class act dude.

In the beginning 5 stars and: Move in was easy. Staff was friendly. The facility is clean and well maintained. After 8 months they raised the rates $45.00 (46%) for no apparent reason other than corporate greed. And another thing, they have no rodent control. Our RV had signs of rat and mouse poop. Fortunately we were able to find very similar services elsewhere for $35.00 less than the initial price. Shame on Mesquite Self Storage!
