Although customer service experience at the location has been pleasant, the overall experience dealing with this company has been detrimental due to their abusive corporate decisions. In the course of 2 years, company decided to raise my agreed rental rate 3 times for up to 50% more than initially agreed. After confronting the manager, I was told this is out of their hands since corporate decides when and how much the rental increases occur. Instead of moving my business elsewhere, manager offered a smaller unit at a much lesser rate, taking into account that "rate will not increase for at least a year and even if it does, increase will be marginal". Trusting this company I decided to go ahead with the downgrade. To my surprise, less than 4 months later I receive ANOTHER RATE INCREASE NOTICE!! This time the increase would be for more than 50% starting next month. This increase like all the others happen for NO JUSTIFIABLE reason. As expressed by many others, this company has a long history of PREDATORY BILLING PRACTICES. They purposely wait for you to be settled with your storage to increase your rates, not by a marginal amount but increases of over 50% of your agreed rental agreement. I appealed this with their superiors in writing but they failed to even respond. I am now in the process of starting to take legal action against this company and needless to say I recommend everyone to stay away from this corporation completely!
They have rats and roaches. Go there at your own risk. Currently in the process of moving out. Had to throw a bunch of stuff out. One of the pics has rat bite marks. Absolutely disgusting
The ladies and gentlemen at this location take customer service to a new level!!! Diane greeted me, walked me around the property and provided key details surrounding the storage space. After the snowfall, my movers had a difficult time getting into the parking lot due to the snow and ice. The maintenance guy and manager shoveled the snow so my movers could enter the parking lot and leave after. Prices are very reasonable. Everyone has been extremely professional and super courteous!! Highly recommend 10/10!!!

UPDATED REVIEW 13/31/2024 After years of voicing concern, I decided to share a glimpse into the reality of Secure Space of Lanham hoping that my previous review would accelerate some well needed upgrades as well as justification of the bi-annual and absorbent increases. Well today, the same issues still exist and I have received more increases while the place continues to deteriorate. I received an email yesterday that in a nutshell says that in order for Secure Space to meet industry standards and to keep what was expected from them compliant, there was another increase. I wanted to share my new increase. Again, I have received 2 increases a year at some years. Please see below the increase of topic My unit from only Sept 2023 was $148 and with this increase it will be at $247. This is just for one unit, I have other units so I am interested to see what those will be. You can imagine that for a renter, this single increase would be $1200 more per year on top of what you were paying before. This one 10x10 will cost me just under $3,000 a year. While I understand that all storage facilities do increase rent, I do not understand why this company is not updating the facility. Where are the frequent and substantial increases going? Certainly not into the facility. These problems have been existing for years. I have emailed, talked on the phone to higher- ups to voice my concerns. If Secure Space feels that these increases can be justified, or they feel that the space is up to expectations as their email read, then please respond accordingly. On their Google page they show only one the buildings on the premises, so I thought I would take the time to add some from the building I rent and reviewing. * Below are Paragraph details for my photos. *Secure Space - are these industry standards below? 1.years of flooding that results in us not having access to the main bay doors? 2. For a side loading door to be out or commissions for years? 3. Bathrooms are constantly out of order and when order almost never having basic hygienic products like paper towels and soap? Floor constantly flooded due to the backed up pipes - which is a part of why the front floods the loading dock? How can you let this go on for multiple years now? 4. The two entry doors (front and back) have gaps in them, they can easily be pulled apart. Do you not care about your client's valuables? Would you be ok having your valuables in this sort of environment? 5. Drinking Fountain has been out for commission for years. It was always backed up and now for a year or so it has simply been covered up with a plastic bag? With all of these increases I am sure you could afford to replace that fountain so that we could hydrate after moving boxes in and out. So, Secure Space, are these images of industry standards? Where are all the increases going? OLD REVIEWS BELOW: I have been a client for 7 plus years. Before this place was bought out by a corporate it was kept up very well and had a great small business culture. Bathrooms are mostly never working based on continuous plumping issues (floors flooding) because of the constant backups - the bathrooms are secured with yellow tape. I normally have it return home to use the bathroom. When it rains the entire from area floods and prevents me from using the loading docks to load and unload. These issues have been going on for years. I have made voiced my concerns over and over to only be told we have it on the list to do…again years. All the while I face two rent increases per year. I have three units with them, at one point the result of the two increases put me near $1,000 extra per year. Where is all this money going in rent increases, surely not into keeping up the facility. After years of emailing and even taking to higher command I feel that I have given up and will be taking my business to storage facility that values its customers and maintains its premises. Note: the staff there are great and really do their best with limited resources and authority.
